Anthony Fields, aka Tone B. Nimble, has been a vital entity, on the music scene, for over 30 years. His calling started in the mid-1980’s as a DJ spinning House, Disco, and Electro in Chicago’s flourishing underground scene. With an open mind and ear, Tone branched out into hip-hop early in his career. Tone’s musical journey includes: Mixshow DJ (106 Jamz), several DJ residencies (Slick’s, Sinibar, Liquid Kitty and Danny’s), Music Buyer (Beat Parlor), National Recording Artist (TND/ Wild Pitch Records), and Label Owner/Recording Artist (All Natural). Though his career path has been wide-ranging, Tone’s primary focus is uncovering new sounds that inspire, uplift, and captivate listeners. As times and audiences have evolved Tone has chosen to give special attention to his first love; collecting soul-filled Disco records.

With minimal time devoted to the business-side of music, Tone turned his attention to “digging” and discovering new music. Concentrating on various styles of Disco, it’s the gospel sound that has seized his attention. “The uplifting message, unmatched energy, and sheer emotion displayed in these recordings showcase the spirit that I try to present when I DJ.” In 2011, Tone started Al-Tone Edits with partner Al Bumz, a disco edit label devoted to featuring lesser known Soul, Disco, and Gospel tunes. With support from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Detroit Swindle, Sadar Bahar, Hunee, and many others. Al-Tone Edits is regarded as a label for Disco savants. Nine volumes deep, Al-Tone Edits continues to grow in exposure, while opening doors for the duo. More recently Tone developed a following for “Soul Is My Salvation” a music series dedicated to dance and DJ friendly Gospel tunes. 30 years later, Tone continues to thirst for new music….
