One such person who has deep roots and connections to the City of Brotherly Love is Skeme Richards. What started as a hobby has turned in an amazing musical career taking taken him across the globe to play for events small and large, from nightclubs to festivals, art galleries to movie screening’s.
Digging and spinning genres across the board from Hip Hop to House, Funk & Soul classics to Disco, Nu Disco and beyond, Skeme keeps things classy and continuously strives to separate himself from the pack. While maintaining originality, he keeps his first class status as a true party rocker all while satisfying the partygoer at the same time. Skeme Richards is known within a large circle of Funk & Soul 45 aficionado’s, DJ’s, vinyl purists, record labels and promoters as a heavyweight collector in this genre. He has toured playing these 7” vinyl records during some of the most unique and successful nights across the globe. No matter the genre, Skeme Richards fits the bill with his delivery, vast musical knowledge and understanding of what it takes to rock a party by reading the crowd properly and reacting accordingly.
The self-proclaimed “Nostalgia King” is known not only for nightlife but also for involvement in the creative arts. In 2013 along with artist Elroy Jenkins were responsible for curating several art exhibitions in Heerlen, The Netherlands as part of the IBE Festival as well as in Rotterdam (Street Science) and even New York’s Tribeca Film Festival which displayed original works and items from their collections. Skeme Richards has also stepped into the print media world with the introduction of their comic series, Kodoja: Terror Mountain Showdown which was featured at some of the biggest gatherings for the genre including New York Comic Con, Wizard World Comic, G-Fest and more.
In addition to building his own unique brand, Skeme Richards has shared stages with some of the best DJ’s in the business including Maseo (De La Soul), Shortkut (Beat Junkies), DJ Babu (Dilated Peoples), Tony Touch, Bobbito Garcia, DJ Nu-Mark (Jurassic 5), DJ Spinna, DJ Muro (King of Diggin’), Daisuke Kuroda (Kickin 45), Rich Medina (Jump n Funk), Florian Keller and more.
