Welcome to Record Breakin’ Music (RBM), a Philadelphia-based indie record label started by tastemaker DJ Junior.  We have a straightforward approach to releasing quality new music with a soulful foundation.

DJ Junior has been dropping soulful gems for some time now. Eavesdrop Radio, his weekly radio show on WKDU 91.7FM (that he co-host with lil' dave) is a staple for music heads tuning in for jazz, soul, hip hop, latin grooves, afro-beat, broken beat and everything in-between.

Our focus has and always will be to present quality music to a culture that embraces it. There’s much more to come.

Thanks for your continued support and keep listening.

Black jazz is the keY

We invited some good friends to curate a mix of some of their favorite Black Jazz Records. Black Jazz Records was a jazz record company and label founded in Oakland, California by pianist Gene Russell and percussionist Dick Schory. The label was created to promote the talents of young African American jazz musicians and singers, and released twenty albums between 1971 and 1975. The latest installment for this limited series is from Simon S. Enjoy!

Got a chance to chop it up with my brother Skeme Richards for his At Home - Creative Isolation interview series. Check it out here to find out how I’ve been navigating different responsibilities during the pandemic.

New Release

Watch For The Fuzz - Mixed by Skeme Richards

Music, films, and cinematic soundtracks have always gone hand in hand in playing a major part of the production process that Skeme Richards and his mentor in Hip Hop, Groove Da Moast (aka Fredy Blast) pulled inspiration from when it came to creating and crafting beats. Groove Da Moast, a
Philly DJ legend and a serious historian and collector of nostalgia always knew the perfect way to create musical landscapes that captured listeners' imaginations to paint the picture. Watch For The Fuzz combines those elements and takes a deep dive into our love of both film, and in this case 1970’s cop and exploitation film and cinematic soundtracks.

As always thank you for the support. ❤️! Grab it HERE
